Original artwork description:

This work is glitter on paper, with BlK 3.0 (the worlds blackest black paint) in a shallow shadowbox frame with stenciled glass, with the word MoD frosted on the inside. This frosting creates a very focused view on the glitter the comes through, and frames the context of the image under.

I remember the first time I heard "These Boots Were Made for Walking" by Nancy Sinatra; it was in the late 1970s. At a young age, I got that this was a strong woman, making a strong statement. I was raised by a single mother in the 70s when it was definitely taboo in the US. So I always felt my mother was just like Nancy Sinatra...living her life, as hard as it may be, with courage and strength.

On the other hand, I love the 1960 mod, space-age fashion scene. The imagination and representation of the future was bold and just striking in so many ways. Glitter seems to be the perfect medium to capture the glory.

Materials used:

Glitter, spray paint on glass
