Medusa is one of the most anecdotal creatures in ancient Greece. She was the only human, mortal, and the most beautiful of her sisters. She maintained chastity and was very devoted to Athena until Poseidon abused her in Athena's temple. This angered Athena, and she cursed Medusa with a snake-like hair, just like her sisters. Medusa was banished to an island and lived alone until Athena sent Perseus to kill her.
