These prints are No. 12 and 13 in a limited edition of 15 It was the Grand Prize Winner in the National Wildlife Federation Photographic Competition.

Dzanga-Sanga Reserve, Central African Republic. In the family of wild Western lowland gorillas I am with, Malui is the dominant female who is usually moody and morose. The family has come out from the forest to feed on plants in a swampy clearing just when there is a mass emergence of hundreds of butterflies. Most of the gorillas avoid the butterflies but when Malui sees them she gets a gleam in her eyes. I see that and get ready. Three times she runs through the patch where the butterflies are hovering, savouring the experience of the explosion of wings. It is a game she clearly enjoys. My feeling is one of surprise and elation – surprise because her behaviour is out of character, and elation because that was probably what she felt.

This Giclee print is a colour print made on hannemuhle photo rag 308 gsm paper which has a very smooth surface. (Giclee describes a fine art printing process that combines pigment based inks with high quality archival quality paper). My Giclee prints have an extremely wide tonal range and colour gamut.

Options: The print can also be made on C-Type Paper (matt or gloss), or C-Type Metallic/Velvet, or Giclee Canvas. It can also be printed at different sizes.
