Maelstrom is a rolling, boiling, heaving ball of mackerel swirling in a frenzy, and was mind boggling to paint!
I have yet to successfully count them all but there are over 90 fish in this work, each with more than 5 layers and washes of watercolour including two iridescent shimmering glazes.
The iridescent medium changes the appearance of the painting with the changing light and is best viewed in oblique sunlight- it evokes the flash of silver as a fish swims by.
It is also one of my larger works at 40cms
The impact is ...awesome.
This work has been framed in a stylish lime washed beechwood frame and is ready to hang.
A work about packaging and shipping:
I almost always recycle outside packaging, being a good planetarian but rest assured while it does not look pretty it will be well protected with bubble wrap and card inside.
I ship larger items via Courier that normally takes 5 working days, and smaller items via the Royal Mail.
