Oil on canvas. Here in Pembrokeshire, West Wales, we have an annual fish festival dedicated to the humble Mackerel which returns to our coast in huge numbers every year, It has been a part of our local Celtic history and culture for centuries. The colours, textures and patterns on the iridescent wet surface of this natural phenominan has fascinated me since my childhood. This painting has such profound memories for me. The smell of the sea, the taste of salt on my lips, the aroma of cooking the fresh fish on the beach. A subject I will never tire of painting.
