Original artwork description:

A piece inspired by the continued and head scratching use of pesticides throughout the world, whether in the production of food or as a means to sterilise our private gardens.

The role of insects cannot be overestimed, whether as pollinators, carrion feeders or as part of the food chain. Without them, we'd briefly exist in a cadaver filled, bird song-free world, before being quickly snuffed out like a cheap birthday candle.

The vintage wall paper effect behind the body of venus was a stroke of madness by myself, a painted repeating pattern of insects seems simple before you try it!

This acrylic pencil painting was inspired by some of the fantastic sculpture at the Louvre.

Materials used:

Acrylic and pencil on board
