Original artwork description:

This gorgeous dachshund has the most captivating eyes and that’s what inspired me to draw this pastel portrait in the first place from a beautiful reference photo. I also loved the contrast of his dark silky coat with splashes of bright russet against the cobalt blue of the chair.
I have used both hard and soft pastel sticks and pan pastels to block in the larger areas on the Pastelmat board surface. In order to create all the fine fur and eye detail I used pastel pencils. I think this tells a story as he holds the viewers gaze, curled up, preparing to close his eyes ready for a nap.
The artwork is mounted with archival mount board using acid free mounting tape. It is mounted in a Matt black wooden frame. The glass is museum grade Tru-view glass to prevent damage from sunlight.
A Certificate of Authenticity and care information is included with this original pastel portrait.

Materials used:

Soft pastel sticks, hard pastel sticks, pastel pencils
