This is an original oil painting inspired by Lily Elsie, an Edwardian stage actress who was once one of the most photographed women in the world. She is a dreamy beauty with haunting eyes and a face that speaks volumes. I used a very soft focus while painting her face and loose, sketchy movement in the background to convey that dreamlike quality. She evokes the luxurious and feminine era of a century ago while having an essence that transcends time.
