Once I have an idea I paint very quickly and don’t want to stop, but sometimes I have an idea and start, I have a blank canvas, an idea, my paints, brushes palate knife ready, I see something in the canvas an image I don’t know where it comes from but I can see it as plain as daylight It’s a bit like Michelangelo’s quote “I see an angel and carve it from marble.”

I work with my inner voice, my feelings, until I’m happy with my work. My art is me, my paintings, wherever they go in the world, a part of me goes with them.

I love painting women, my women are all beautiful, women don’t need faces or clothes to portray beauty. My women come in all shapes and sizes they could be from anywhere in the world. Beauty is a feeling, a glow inside that radiates out, I try to capture that glow with every brush or knife stroke. I wanted 'Lady with long black hair’ to look comfortable with lots of pleasing curves, a young attractive woman, exquisite but above all at ease with herself.

I want my art to be unpredictable and refreshing, the paintings that I create are meant to inspire, I want my art to elevate the room. I believe that our homes should be sanctuaries that surrounds us with comfort, colour, beauty and the things we love. If you feel an emotional connection to a work, or you just love the colours and the art makes you feel good, then I've accomplished what I set out to do.
