Original artwork description:

My inspiration for this colourful piece came from many years visiting the beautiful Greek islands. Being a lover of all things Greek - the people, the climate, the culture, its mythological characters and the amazing history - everything Greek really, we regularly spend time visiting ancient sites and monasteries.

While visiting a monastery on Crete, I purchased a copy of a small icon, which has resided in my artroom for many years. One day, when struggling for inspiration, I glanced at the gorgeous little icon and decided to base a painting on it.

I enjoyed every minute spent on this painting and it has hung in my artroom for a couple of years. Having downsized recently, I don't have room for it any longer, so it is now looking for a new home.

It is wired and ready to hang, the sides are painted black.

Materials used:

Deep-edge canvas, acrylic paint, gold leaf, gold paint - all artists' quality materials.
