Original artwork description:
The first of two paintings inspired by the beautiful thief Elizabeth Lipp played by Melina Mercouri in the film, Topkapi (1964), a classic caper movie (based on an Eric Ambler novel) about the theft of an emerald-studded dagger from a Turkish museum. It was shot on location in Istanbul and was directed by Jules Dassin.
I was drawn to the lavish colours and style of the film. Mercouri's character narrates and draws the viewer in to her plans in her seductive heavy accent. I have tried to capture her stylish look and the way she holds tilts head as she speaks.

It is painted in oils on a deep edge canvas (the edge is also painted in the same colour as the background) it can be hung as it is or framed if preferred.
This painting is shipped stretched and ready to hang with fixtures on the back of the stretcher. It is signed on the back of the canvas. Paintings are securely packaged and shipped with a tracking number.
