Original artwork description:

In the bluebell wood
The colours are refreshing to see,
Dappled light on the sloping pathway,
Cool sitting under the trees in the late sunny morning light,
I am in a magical kingdom,
Blue gems of nature to inspire me at Duncliffe wood.

Words and feelings of my experience not far from where I live in North Dorset.
Original impressionist watercolour on extra rough watercolour paper bockingford 300gsm 140lb.
I created this original painting after I had been to Duncliffe to see the bluebells. I crested some paintings there and observed the light, colours, shapes and perspective.
While I was sketching there I sat at the bottom of the pathway looking up to the light and shade. This was my inspiration for this particular scene. I used my Chinese brush for the trees, sable hair brush for the bluebells and background washes and a fan brush for the building up of texture in the green shades. Lots of delicate mark making and lightly touching the paper with lots of spontaneous energy.
All my watercolours are signed on the front and back of the painting plus dated and titled.

Materials used:

Extra rough textured watercolour paper bockingford 300gsm 140lb, sable hair brush, Chinese brush, fan brush, Windsor and Newton watercolours,
