Original artwork description:

This is a flower drawing study based on my mother's 40 Days dried roses...

No one is meant to live forever. Each person has his own destiny, he goes to another world in his time. To explain these phenomena, there are a large number of Christian customs. According to old Filipino beliefs, the soul leaves the human body. After forty days of ordeal, she finally finds her place. Here she will wait for the Second coming. It will determine the permanent place of residence of the newly departed soul. On the 40th day, relatives arrange a Wake, order a prayer in the Temple for the repose. They give her the opportunity to go through all the heavenly trials with the Lord God. By their actions, relatives provide the soul of the deceased with future eternal life, hand its fate into the hands of the Almighty.

I used Pastel Colored pencils on the initial layer of this piece and then another layer of Colored pencils to get the mix of "maturing" color effect & paper like texture right. Fixative was applied on every layer. Finishing it with touches of white watercolor for the molds and charcoal powder is diluted for the background.
