"I attack both people and myself in an attempt (albeit unsuccessfully) to heal my trauma."
(Brigitte Martel- Sexuality, Love and Gestalt)

"For me, as this figurative fish, loneliness and
tactile isolation has become a natural habitat. Through this project, I want to recognize my right to the warmth and caress of human hands, to accept my
tenderness, weightlessness and terrible traumas. To see that in the darkest moments of my life, fear is transformed into a source of light and set me free. This is my movement towards my authenticity." (Valeria Golovenkina about the object)

This little anglerfish comes as a gift for the big one.

TOUCH SERIES

Sea creatures live in a kind of tactile deprivation. Getting in contact with them is possible but very unlikely to be an enjoyable experience for both sides.

Dreams and visions are a very intimate and delicate substance. In this series Valeria Golovenkina draws on ideas of the humanistic approach to psychology, inviting the viewer to ponder on accepting their own innermost feelings. The artist speculates on the effects that emotions might have on physical motion through the metaphor of furry marine creatures. Admitting the tenderness down deep inside of you and embracing your dark side, one becomes free, feels more life, achieve greater heights.

Having been inspired by natural forms, human can borrow their best qualities and utilise them in his technical achievements. At the same time, the distinctive features of the animal world can lead the viewer to a number of interesting associations and provide food for introspection.

Working with transformative properties of the material, Valeria invites the viewer to immerse themselves in sensations and being taken through new experience.
