Original artwork description:

I'm very fond of turtles, not only from my years as a scuba diving professional, but also because my Goddaughter is a marine biologist who runs a portion of the turtle protection and monitoring programme in Kefalonia, Greece. I whole applaud the amazing hard work that she and her team do, day in, day out, to ensure the safety and health of these amazing creatures.

A Green Sea Turtle painted in blocky brushwork and heavy body acrylics. The background is a deep ultramarine blue in this painting, reminiscent of deep ocean water. The turtle itself is painted in creams, ochres, siennas and deep browns. The name 'Green Sea Turtle' is sometimes misleading, because it doesn't appear green when observed in life and, actually there is no green in this painting at all.

All sea turtles are endangered and protected across the globe, but they need our help and protection, too.

(See my website blog on the subject and ways that you can help.)

The stretched canvas has its sides painted the same blue as the ocean background. It is ready to hang, as shipped, or can be framed for a more sophisticated look.

Materials used:

Acrylic paint
