There are two incompatible things in this painting an ancient Greek sculpture and leaves of plants.
The leaves are alive and it is our present and the sculpture is a symbol of the past.
And the main idea of this painting is "if we don't care about our nature and our world it can become our past someday like this ancient Greek sculpture".
