Original artwork description:

I awoke one morning and decided I wanted to do an abstract. I had been wanting to do a painting of the Golden Gate Bridge for a long time so I decided to challenge myself and try one in an abstract style. I could not decide what color scheme to do it in... so i picked out my black, white and colors for orange because I knew I would need those. Then I dumped all my remaining paints in a tub and closed my eyes and picked out 3 colors. They were purple, blue, and bright red! So here is the result of that adventure! This scene is one that is burnt into my memory. I use to live on the Presidio, not 500 yards from this spot... Baker's Beach. At night, as I lay in bed, I would watch the sunset on San Francisco Bay as the lights began to dance on the water. The waves would crash as the sky turned bright red and gold. I loved to watch the freighters go in and out of the bay at night... the lights moving slowly over the choppy waters. The light house lights... and listen to the fog horns when a heavy blanket of night shadows was rolling in. I started to put a freighter in this painting, but it looked so nice i had to quit. As the saying goes, an Artists hardest task is knowing when to quit. But we really never quit.. we just abandon an art piece when it is as close to perfection as we dare attempt that day. I will paint another one with a freighter soon!
