Original artwork description:

Oil on Italian fine weave canvas. (108 x 196 x 3 cm) (3ft x 6ft) Signed on the reverse. Shipped rolled (no hanging equipment included) Painted to the edges (see photos for details)

This is the title painting from the Fugue States Collection exhibited in Magacin Cultural centre in Belgrade in 2019 - A powerful series of paintings inspired by questions about memory and identity.

Fugue is a rich meditative painting, within the flowing movement of the painting are a series of half-formed things - shapes drawn out of the darkness. Inspired by fairy tales and the central theme of the Fugue - this painting has a great sense of movement.

This painting captures the artists questions about the validity of memory, in particular the idea that the deeper we look inside the less clear our sense of external identity becomes.

The artist created the painting in layers, each new layer hides parts of the one beneath, responding to it but altering it.

Look at the detail detail photos to see traces of the lower layers and blurred sections as the bleed into one another. This intentional brushwork give the painting a sense of mystery and depth.

Fugue is a powerful statement painting, and act a a great focal point for a social space.

This painting will be shipped rolled in a tube, for protection, a local framer will be able to stretch the canvas easily. It is signed on the reverse and carefully packaged with a certificate of Authenticity from the artists studio.
