Free, soaring in the skies, blue wildflowers below....
I have mounted my 2 Blue birds and the cornflowers (kind of:o) on a piece of solid oak.
The wood is sturdy enough to stand on it's own, if you want to hang it on the wall, let me know and I put a keyhole hanger on!
I love doing enamel, the glass powders, the hot glowing kiln, the serendipity of the method I use, all conspire to make this process such a pleasure. I have layered the glass in several coats on copper, I use my own etching plates for the figures, I cut them out by hand and make sure they are really clean before starting the process of powdering on the glass. Most of the figures, flowers etc have been in the kiln several times to get the depth of glass that I want. Of course they are so smooth to the touch and so warm in colors.
I rarely have the opportunity, so please don't wait, if you like this piece.
The oak wood measures 11 cm x 22 cm (4.5" x 9")
with the birds coming off the wood to a width of 15 cm ( 6")
and the thickness of the wood is 4.5 cm ( almost 2")
I have left the oak untreated so it eventually will turn that wonderful silver gray color. You can of course oil it with a brush if you prefer it to stay the honey color it has now.
I mail this to you packed very carefully in a box with plenty of packing materials, I have a lot of experience sending things, and will apply all of it to your sculpture arriving safely. The shipping cost is for sending it with courier so it has tracking etc and arrives quickly.
If you have any questions at all about the sculpture or anything else, I am right here for you!
Thank you so much for visiting!
