In March 2023 the principal of the Tallahassee classical school in Florida, Hope Carrasquilla, has been fired. The reason? The sixth-graders were shown a picture of Michelangelo’s sculpture of David during a Renaissance art class. Some parents called the sculpture “pornographic”, and that was enough to destitute the principal. This artwork wants to express solidarity to Mrs. Carrasquilla and wants to condemn this senseless act of bigotry that aims to demonize the human body and its freedom through the demonization of one of the most beautiful masterpieces of art.
