This painting draws its inspiration from my childhood.
Moldova is a country of rolling hills with miles of vineyards and in the warm autumn sun the smell of grapes fills the air.
This is my favourite time, the time when the work of making the wine starts.
I grew up helping my grandparents collect the grapes from their own vineyard with which they would make homemade wine. Almost everyone in the Moldovan countryside has homemade wine in their cellar.
I remember the warm evenings in the village after a day of work helping my grandma in the field, sitting down all together to have dinner in the shade of the vineyard in front of the house.  Sweet memories. Interesting fact - Moldova has the largest wine cellar in the world!
