Homage to the great German poet Friederich Schiller.
Schiller is one of my all time favourite writers. His plays, which I read during high school, made me love theatre and classical music (Schiller’s works inspired some of the most famous operas by Verdi, Rossini and Donizetti).
This is a pop version of one of his most famous portraits.
The title “Feuertrunken” means literally “drunk of fire” and comes from his famous hymn “An die Freude” (ode to joy).
Acrylics and charcoal on canvas, ready to hang.
