might be a prince, and might not, you never know until you have tried!
a handprinted aquatint etching; I ink up the copperplate for each print pulled, this means that each print will have small differences to the next. I hope you treasure this as a sign of individuality and part of what makes an original print an original. I use first class papers and ink to give my work the best possible longevity.
Aquatint is a technique where deep tones can be achieved on an etching, it involves rosin, that gets melted onto the copperplate with the help of a burner.
If you would like to see me make and print an etching, go to the "me at work" section in my shop. In the films about etching I am actually creating this very print.
"My very own Frog" is printed in an edition of only 40 prints, a very small edition,
please be aware that I can't guarantee that you get the number on the photo......
Each print is numbered, titled and signed by me.
I have printed the etching a piece of warm white heavy Fabriano printmaking paper,
perfect for the image, the image measures 9" x 9" (22 cm x 22 cm )
and the actual paper measures 12.5" x 16.5" (30 cm x 32 cm)
I'll mail your etching from my studio in Denmark, protected, so it arrives safely! It comes with an "Original Print by Mariann Johansen-Ellis" sticker and a leaflet explaining what an etching is. If you are giving the etching away as a gift, let me know and I'll wrap it in a nice piece of paper for you!
Thank you for looking in my shop and very welcome back!
