This painting is inspired from the landscape surrounding the town of Belalcazar in Spain. I spent time at an artist residency at the Convento de Santa Clara and spent many hours walking in the landscape. The area reminded a lot of Somerset, being prodominately an agricultural town with an impressive castle built by the Moors.
During times walking in the landscape I would come across lone buildings which would draw my eyes where I would sketch, paint and capture the variety of colours.
Oil paint on prepared cardboard.
