Original artwork description:

One of the definitions of Ensemble is 'a group of items viewed as a whole rather than individually.' This fits this small, red abstract perfectly. Individually each mark is small and insignificant, but taken together it creates a harmonious whole. It has impact from a distance of a few metres, but also invites the viewer to look more closely, when they will see that the individual small panels look like windows and doors, maybe in an Arabic medina in Morocco.

The acrylic paints used include metallic blue and copper, these add an additional layer of complexity as it appears different in changing light. Detailed inspection shows that many of the panels are similar to each other, with the same combination of colours and marks appearing at several locations in the painting.

This modern, contemporary artwork would like great in a variety of settings, from a modern apartment to a period home.

'Ensemble' is painted on a canvas stretched over an internal wooden frame and is ready to hang.
