The chains of both physical and emotional restriction and constraint are pushed back in this piece to create the internal space as we take a breath, filling our lungs and lives again.
This vessel was formed by first building a large coil pot. I then carved the individual links from its walls, creating the interwoven pattern of chains, spaces, and the internal void from its structure. It was then fired with oxides to create the corroded finish.
