Original artwork description:

In 2018 the editors of ArtFinder tipped me for the top as one to watch and invest in, picked from thousands of outstanding artists and now one of the best selling artists.

When I sit at my easel with a blank canvas, I’m in my world I’m in control, I know what I’m going to paint. I want my paintings to have character to tell a story but without words as if using mime, to be dramatic, emotional, sometimes theatrical but always with feelings and always special.

The expression “to have egg on one’s face” means to look foolish or feel embarrassed. But what if that egg on your face was actually quite becoming? What if it belonged there? It’s
not likely…unless you’re speaking about the work of artist Ta Thimkaeo.

A fried egg can only have so many expressions, Ta likens it to the mask humans wear to obscure their feelings and emotions. Blanc Magazine.

When I was a kid at school we would have to take our lunch box to school as there were no kitchen or cooking facilities, when the dinner bell would ring we would all sit on the floor to eat our lunch. Almost every day I had a fried egg on rice, the other kids would say, Ta fried egg again you'll begin to start looking like a fried egg. I used to plead with my sister to have something different but we had a lot of chickens and a lot of eggs so it was always fried egg on rice, it was easy for her.

Blanc a New York-based magazine wrote an article about me in the November issue; it went on to say Ta has a special interest in character development and portraying “a little of the night…coming from my dreams and imagination.” This combined with her passion for colour psychology draws the viewer in and leaves them there, whether Ta is using oil on canvas, charcoal and pastels, watercolours, acrylic on wood or pencil.

To say that Ta is a versatile artist is an understatement—creating modern, contemporary, and folk art that includes portraiture and figure drawing in its vast subject matter and explores periods of Impressionism, Expressionism, and Cubism with influences from Botticelli to Lowry and Magritte.

I have sent my work to over 30 countries and to some great landmarks such as Berkeley Square in London’s Mayfair, 5th Ave New York, Malibu beach in California and from Washington to LA, Hong Kong, Monaco, Monte Carlo and Singapore, in fact one of my best collectors is in Amsterdam which is not short of great artist or galleries, I’m very proud of that.
