Artist's description:

While looking through some old books of European cities I came across this building. Arranging the activities from some other photos brought me to this place in early Amsterdam. Amsterdam was the first republic that freed people from the monarchy. As a result they suffered constant pressure from other European monarchies to concede. Sea battles raged constantly off their shores.
