The beauty of North Dorset
Bluebell coloured sky and white clouds,
Spring tree colours,
Pastoral land,
Patterns of the flowers,
Painting outside on a warm sunny day.
Words and thoughts of seeing this recently with my ladies sketching group.
Original impressionist watercolour on cold pressed watercolour paper bockingford 300gsm 140lb.
Exploring Duncliffe woods and finding a scene on the edge of the woodland, looking out to the landscape to the North west of the ancient hill. The contrasting colours were perfect for painting and fresh. I enjoyed painting outside in the warm air as it was so relaxing. I look forward to going back there again to take in a sunset sky from the hillside.
I used my sable hair brush to apply the sporadic wash of pale yellow and then a bluebell colour for the sky which I used in the foreground for the bluebells. I left areas of white paper for the white clouds. Then went over with expressive brushstrokes for the landscape. Making many different shades of green and other colours. I pressed and dabbed with my filbert brush to mark make the flower patterns and trees.
Cold pressed textured watercolour paper bockingford 300gsm 140lb, filbert brush, sable hair brush, Japanese watercolours,
