Artist's description:

A representation of an excited dancer, fashioned from driftwood found on my local beach, under the White Cliffs of Dover. The random and interesting shapes, colours, sizes and textures of wood that have been tumble-washed for a few years in the sea, has long since fascinated me. I am always amazed at the colours, textures and shapes of the woods pieces; at how strongly they speak for themselves within a larger work as a direct reflection of their wethered journey to the studio. Taking the time to find the right pieces; scouring with a determined patience has sometimes made me wonder why I'd ever begun as its jigsaw like qualities took an age... but of course, the organic materials dictated. And The Dancer? Well, I'm always struck by the grace and movement of dance and it seemed an appropriate vehicle to use such natural materials to express such a natural function :)
