Original artwork description:

I used handmade canvas for this painting, making it more special.
Deserts always fascinate me due to their constant and mysterious atmosphere that changes during the various times of the day. Mornings have a different mood in comparison to the evenings and afternoons. Especially during the evenings, the mysterious sounds of the wind seem to tell stories which push me into a magical world. I have painted this theme before and still have a persistent feeling to explore it further since I feel that the deserts always have new ways to view, experience, and paint them. Due to this, its mystery is ever-alluring and never-ending. My paintings usually take me from the present world into a new one. I also aim to take my audience with me on my journey so that they can experience this new world with me. Mystery is the key in this world of creation, and I expect my audiences to feel this too; mystery - is something that is hidden and is waiting to be explored. I start my work by painting the essential objects for the people of the desert, such as the “ghara” (their water jug) in which they travel long distances to collect water- an everyday necessity, their local dresses, and the animals that they use in everyday life such as camels. These objects are essential for their everyday life; when I paint these figures, the result is a semi-abstract painting. This is because although certain elements of the painting are distinguishable, other elements are blended into the background with various colours. However, since the figures are still distinguishable, the audience can still relate to these paintings as travelling and drinking water are everyone’s necessities. Nevertheless, the differences in being able to attain these are what provoke one to explore the deserts constantly.
