Artwork description:

This image is part of a series entitled "America '97", made during a visit to the Western States of the USA in (surprisingly!) 1997.

This trip was driven by my love of the work of Ansel Adams, one of landscape photography's great masters.

The picture was made as the sun cleared the eastern horizon of Chloride City, looking towards the Cottonwood Mountains.

The light was changing by the second, and within a minute of this exposure being made the entire scene in front of me had become a bleached out desert scape. The colours were totally new to me - in my country we have no comparable locations or possibilities for light such as this (or very rarely.)

Limited Edition prints are printed on Hahnemühle FineArt Pearl 285gsm paper, a premium quality, acid- and lignin-free paper. FineArt Pearl paper has a similar foundation to that used in the past in traditional silver fibre prints. Its premium formulation allows for high image definition, deep blacks and outstanding reproduction of colour and detail.

Prints are on A2 paper size, each in an edition of 20, plus 1 Artist’s Proof. The image is printed full frame onto the standard sized A2 sheet. The actual print will have a border around the sides and top to allow for framing.

An A1 limited-edition print is also available of this image, again limited to 20 copies. Please contact Jonathan for pricing details and availability.

Smaller prints are also available in A3 and A4 limited editions.

Materials used:

Fujichrome 6x9 transparency, printed onto Hahnemuhle archive paper
