This is a LARGE mixed media work on deep canvas. I used acrylic paint, graphite, ink, paper (images printed from Matisse's "Dance", shipping materials, and salt. This painting was in my 2015 show "What Lies Beneath" and is about the aftermath of my father's death. I liked the juxtaposition of the title - which is usually perceived as a negative cliche with the joyous dancers and light colors. The circles represent the cyclic experiences of life and lifetimes. I used cut up calendar pages also to denote time and the passing of time.
Thanks so much for looking at my art!
