Original artwork description:

This original painting was inspired by wild fennel and daisies growing along the Devon coastline. Fennel has flowering stalks, and the flowers are arranged in umbels with tiny yellow petals that are a good source of pollen for pollinators. The leaves are incredibly aromatic and the fresh growth is delicious in the summer. Fennel leaves compliment vegetables and seafood particularly well, and they are said to be good for the digestion. They can also be brewed into a mild tea along with other flavours like mint and chamomile. The flowers make a very pretty addition to salads or as a garnish.

In traditional folklore, fennel represents love, protection and longevity. Fennel is one of the primary ingredients in absinthe. Legend has it that Prometheus brought fire to humans in a giant stalk of fennel.

I imagine that this painting would sit well in a kitchen, a hall, a dining room, or anywhere in the heart of a home.

This painting measures 30x30 inches square, and is fitted with picture cord at the back, ready for hanging. It will be carefully packaged, and boxed, ready to courier to you.

Materials used:

Acrylic paint, marbling inks
