Cowleaze Wood is set high in the Chiltern Hills and is famed for the carpet of bluebells that arrives in spring. An extended winter meant that we had to wait this year for them to appear, but when they did they were as magnificent as ever. I found a quiet spot within the wood where the trees created an avenue in front of me – the mass of blues and purples a blanket between them. With only birdsong for company it is a place full of tranquillity, peace and natural beauty.
