Original artwork description:

The latest in my series of paintings of food in a pop art style is a fun, simple corn cob with the husk leaves still on it. I love the bold shape and colours of this food, the leafy green contrasting with the sunny yellow of the corn.

While corn is a staple of my favourite, Mexican food, I think this painting was also influenced by the print on the curtains in The Simpsons kitchen. Look them up! You'll see the comparison.

As usual the food is framed by black outlines and set against my trademark sky blue background. I'm less interested in realism and more focused on painting food in a graphic, pop art way so that the items become abstract and pattern-like. I like to explore the bright colours and nostalgic memories associated with everyday food rather than fine-dining.

The end result is a bold and colourful painting that would brighten up any room in the house.

It is painted in acrylics and POSCA paint pen on thick high quality A4 paper. PLEASE NOTE: the painting doesn't come framed, but I've taken photos of it in a white A4 frame for display purposes.
