The Cormorant is almost half fish and half bird. They are usually seen flying fast in pairs in a straight line a few feet above the water, standing up drying their outstretched wings or swimming and ducking under the water. I considered myself very lucky to have had this one pop out of the water and onto a log right in front of me. I had lots of time to admire this beautiful bird and take a few reference shots as well.
