2020, "Chiprovtsi Folk Motifs" - wood sculpture
This original hand carved wood sculpture is one of the latest artworks of the Bulgarian contemporary sculptor Sava Draganov, deeply inspired by modernism, art deco and folk art. It follows the traditions in Bulgarian folklore ornamentation and color compositions. 100% handmade, it is one extraordinary woodcarving masterpiece and exquisite modern home decor. It can be displayed both on the wall or on table as an outstandingly unique large bowl.
Apart from the triangles, which can be treated as human symbols, the ornamentation of the Bulgarian Chiprovtsi folk motifs of the local carpets and rugs making represents humans or parts of the human body. Many of them are not only “figures” from a “craft design”: they are protagonists in the story, told by the carpet motifs.
