Artist's description:

This is the second of three pastel drawings that I did “en plein air” at a beautiful spot high in the YangMing Mountain range in Taipei City, Taiwan. It was a beautifully hot day and my wife and I were enjoying the views and hiking in this area called ChinTian-Gan. As the sun was setting I drew three pastel drawings of the ever changing landscape and colours of the sky. The small pagoda on the side of the facing mountain caught my eye and made a perfect silhouette against the bright sky. This picture was done just as the sun was setting and the mountains had developed a blue colour. I tried to continue the simplicity of the first picture, but add a little more to it and kept the bare paper above and below the image to give the feeling of misty mountains with the high peaks standing out above the clouds. I like the fact that all three pictures have a different feeling even though they were done at the same place on the same day.
