Marks made on the canvas with paint, glaze and various drawing implements are partially hidden or revealed by layers on top of them. In this way the earlier layers are shaping the painting throughout the process. I hope viewers spend time looking past what is on the surface and noticing details that are partially revealed through translucent layers of glaze
