It's said that in liminal places- the shorelines and borders, the edges of the forests and rivers, the veils between the worlds are thinnest. Here, in the borderlands between England and Wales where I live, there is a magical atmosphere in the rounded hills and valleys, which speak of an ancient past through the timeless language of wind, rain, and birdsong.
In this painting I've tried to capture the atmosphere of this area through the use of colour and light, by employing different paint effects, such as letting the paint run and drip in places, and through imagery: a single bird flies over the hills, carrying messages between worlds and times.
This is a painting on canvas, which is stretched over a wooden frame. I've used professional artist quality acrylics, mainly rose, violet, ultramarine and cerulean blue, Van Dyke red, sienna, green and white, and added a layer of varnish for protection; the edges are painted white.
The painting is initialled in the lower right hand corner, and labelled/ signed in full on the back. It is unframed, and has picture hooks and string on the reverse so is ready to hang.
A Certificate of Authenticity will be enclosed with the painting, which will be carefully wrapped and sent tracked and insured with a reputable carrier.
Thank you very much for your interest in this painting; I would be delighted to answer any questions about it, so please get in touch if there is anything you would like to ask.
