    Painting expeditions!

    A photograph taken during a short winter painting trip to Anglesey, North Wales, the changing light and colour of the skies providing inspiration for later paintings. My travels have taken me to the mountains of New Zealand, central Europe and Canada, though my heart really belongs to the mountains and waters of the Lake District and Scotland. Recently I've found a different kind of inspiration in the softer and more understated hills and valleys of the English-Welsh borderlands where I live.

    Packing a sold painting

    Packing a sold painting

    Each painting is carefully packaged with layers of tissue paper and bubble wrap, and then put into a strong cardboard box for its journey to its new owner.

    Studio windowsill

    I like collecting things which inspire me, so my windowsill currently holds the following finds: pebbles collected from beaches in New Zealand, Scotland and Cornwall; a piece of driftwood (I just like the shape!); a small ceramic of a sea urchin, bought in Nelson, New Zealand, a postcard of Alsace, where I stayed for a while last year, and some green glass bottles, which look lovely with the evening light shining through them.....
