Artist's description:
This listing is for one of 12 limited edition blue lino prints. (If you look at all the photos you can see various stages of the printmaking process used in order to produce a three colour reduction lino print such as 'Bluetown.')
In the most basic terms - my design was transferred to a piece of lino, carved and printed a number of times in various colours then discarded as at the end there was little lino left.
This is an especially beautiful process which provides some stunning and sometimes unpredictable results.
Each print is always unique with slight differences to the next in the series!
The image measures 30 cm x 40 cm and fits beautifully in a standard 16' x 24 " frame, the framed image in the photographs was bought from The Range for around £10 GBP.
There is also another colour version of this design which has been produced in warm tones of oranges and reds (see the lino print section of this shop.)
Thank you for looking, please call again!
Further info on the process of reduction lino printing
1.) The first areas of the lino are carved away and then the first, lightest colour is printed (this leaves the colour of the paper showing through the carved areas.)
2.) The lino is then carved again and the second colour is printed. The carved areas are shown by maintaining the first printed colour.
3.) The carving and printing process is repeated until enough detail / colourwork has been achieved.
Materials used:
off white paper, caligo safe wash oil based inks, etching press
