Blue Opium Light, changes to reveal abstract shapes found in nature. A multitude of Papaver somniferum heads are continuously repeated until a new form is found. Expressing a fragment of the complexities that are all around us.
With an interest in elevating the everyday overlooked plant Papaver somniferum that is all around us and in turn monumentalising their presence. I have explored and worked with plants in their natural forms, focusing on their perfected life cycle, vital aesthetic, nutritional and medicinal roles. Growing and nurturing the plant varieties and painting them from life, deepening my connection with the subjects. This piece is part of a collection, the works are created in different mediums of art combining the traditional drawn, painted, collaged to contemporary digital manipulation to create novel discovered art. The outcome expands the plants form and shape into abstracted floral pieces manifesting new realities.
