Title: Black Cuillin

On the ancient island of Skye stands an impressive mountainous ridge, The Black Cuillin. The last Scottish clan battle on Skye was fought on the slopes of these mountains in 1601 between the Clan MacDonald and the Clan MacLeod. This remote place is idyllic in Summer but in Winter becomes a place of stormy seas and crashing waves. This image was made after a long drive down single track roads on this distant and sparsely populated island to reach a small beach, only a hundred yards long, where the Cuillin Ridge looms dark and mysterious.

Giclée fine art paper print with approx 2 inches white border.
This is the 16 inch print with a 12 inch image.
Also available in sizes up to 44 inches.

About My Work
I believe in giving my clients beautiful artwork on luxury papers that hold their colours for a lifetime! For these special prints of my work I use dreamy, Canson Rag Photographique Paper, a beautiful smooth paper with bright whites and intense colour rendition. Printed here in my studio on the Isle of Skye, to ensure you get a truly handmade image.

About My Materials
People often say that my images look like paintings because of the richness of the colours, the depth of the black and the texture of the materials I use. Canson are one of the oldest paper manufacturers in the world, they have been making paper for over 450 years in France. Founded in 1557 and printers to Louis XVI, their paper was used by Voltaire and Napoleon and the Montgolfier brothers used Canson paper to make the first hot air balloon. Canson paper was used by Picasso, Ingres, Chagal, Miro and many other artists. They have been making paper and canvas for photography since this art began over 150 years ago. Canson are Eco Friendly - they purchase paper pulp only from forests managed in a sustainable way which also makes them pretty special.
