Forbidden City. Beijing. 2019. Oil on canvas. 65 x 81 cm
China has so many mysterious places. One of them is Forbidden City in Beijing.
This is a unique, one of a kind original oil painting. It was done in oil on canvas stretched on a wooden frame.
In 2007, which was the official year of China in Russia, the artist Karakhan Seferbekov exibited his paintings among Russian artists in China. There he has painted a large number of paintings. The artist was deeply touched by the architecture and history of the Great Chinese Empire. He brought to Moscow several paintings depicting the Great Wall of China, as well as other objects of Chinese architecture.
Two further years Karakhan was invited to work in China, where they were particularly impressed by his paintings. All his works painted in Beijing and Harbin (some 30 canvasses) have been purchased by the newly constructed museum in Beijing for its Russian collection, and by the Sino-Russian Han Jianmin Art Gallery, now a branch of the International Academy of Culture and Art in Harbin.
This painting depicts the Forbidden City based on memories of later trips to China.
The style of Karakhan Seferbekov is still recognizable, despite the completely new colour of those places that we see on the artist's canvas. Blue and light blue predominate as part of the Chinese culture reflected in ceramics.
The painting is sold unframed.
