Artwork description:

This is a large (approx A3 image size) linocut showing some of the donkeys on the sandy beach at Weston-super-Mare in Somerset.

This is very small variable edition of 10.

The print is made by cutting a block of lino, then inking the colour for all the prints in the edition, then cutting again for the next colour. The ink is transferred to the paper by rubbing the back with a wooden spoon - which takes a while for a large print like this! At the end of the process no more prints can be made as the block has been entirely cut to bits.

The image shows the actual print for sale which is number 7 in the edition. All prints are numbered, titled and signed by me on the front.

Image size is 39cm wide by 27cm high, and will be sent to you with a mount and backing board - so all you need to do is frame it! The mount brings the artwork to a total size of 50cm by 40cm approx., which is a standard frame size and easily available.

Please note international orders will be posted without a mount and rolled in a tube with acid-free tissue.

Donkeys have been a tradition on the wide sandy beach at Weston-super-Mare for over a hundred years, operated by a couple of well-known local families. There is a picture of the Beatles sitting on them (though adults are not normally allowed).
