I loved the way the barn was nestled amongst the trees at the end of the field - it looked so inviting. I was interested in the cornfield in all its abundance. Gouache is an interesting medium for me as it combines the properties of watercolour but it can be painted thickly and then it goes opaque. This was the perfect medium to depict the cornfield, I could depict the layers of crop using the paint thickly.
