This painting is part of my exploration into the often-overlooked phenomenon of wildlife migration within urban environments. Living in Singapore—a densely developed city-state with rich biodiversity—I am constantly witnessing the tension between rapid urban expansion and the quiet resilience of animals forced to adapt to changing conditions.
In this work, I focus on the displacement and migration of wild animals, drawing parallels with the human experience of moving. The piece is created on recycled cardboard from moving boxes, a material deliberately chosen for its symbolic resonance. Just as we often resist the upheaval of relocation, animals too endure the stress and disorientation of habitat loss, often without choice or support.
Through this work, I invite viewers to reflect on the silent journeys of non-human lives—creatures that navigate altered landscapes, cross human boundaries, and search for new shelter in a world constantly reshaped by our presence. It is both a tribute and a quiet call for empathy.
