'Balcony Shadow, Brighton'

I painted this piece at the April Brighton Painting Group session alongside 20 other brilliant artists around St Peter's Church in central Brighton. I had previously noticed the light illuminating this facade many times before as I live nearby. I chose it as my subject on this day as the rich shadow of the balcony contrasted beautifully with the rest of the facade and I felt I needed to capture it.
